Mission

Our Mission: The Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine at Belmont University is dedicated to cultivating diverse physician leaders of character who embrace a whole- person approach to healing in a community of service-learning, inspired by character and the love and grace of Christ. Our Vision: Shaping medicine through transformative whole person care. We are united by a common set of value statements: Love Learning Lead by Serving Live with Integrity Heal Together in Humility Welcome Difference Learn more: https://www.belmont.edu/medicine/about/ As a newer medical school, we are looking for students who see themselves in this mission and share these values. Our belief in a whole-person approach to health care informs everything we do – from education, to clinical experiences, to the leadership team we’ve selected. The focus is on you - from challenging academics and robust clinical experiences - it’s personalized education, informed at every level throughout medical school. From the very beginning of the admissions process, FCoM considers each aspect of who you are and what you bring to the learning environment. This focus on you continues when you become a student - with small class sizes, small group learning, and hands on practical experience, our community will support you as you grow into the type of physician you want to be.

How the school describes it

Two interviews are included – a traditional open file interview and a structured closed file interview. Each interview lasts 30 minutes. The rest of the interview session is designed for applicants to learn about FCoM and ask questions.

Invitations

We anticipate our first interview invitations being sent in August.

A typical interview day

Candidates will be sent information to review and familiarize themselves with prior to the interview day. During the interview session, there will be plenty of time to ask questions and learn more about the topics important to you in selecting a medical school. Two interviews are conducted. One is a traditional open-file interview with a faculty member or member of the admissions committee lasting approximately 30 minutes. The second is a structured interview conducted by a member of the FCoM community that includes standard questions and the interviewer is blind to all application materials. This interview may feel similar to an MMI experience. As a newer school, the interview day is designed specifically to allow time for applicants to ask questions and learn more about areas of interest.

The waitlist is live, unranked, and reviewed at each Admissions Committee meeting throughout the cycle. Candidates on the waitlist may be offered admission at any point in the cycle.
